Default Equipment Packs

Is it worth saving the 20 gold zaishen coins for the heavy equipment pack, or are the 5 gold coins for a large equipment pack a better investment?

First off, the heavy pack is only 15 gold coins, not 20.

Anyway, it all depends on what you want. 5 coins for 15 slots is clearly cheaper per slot (15/5 = 3 slots per coin) compared to the heavy pack (20/15 = 1.33 slots per coin). The question is, are the extra five slots going to make a difference to you? Value is subjective.

5 slots make a big difference to me, especially when farming in intensive drop zones.

The cost for the 5 extra slots has made me dub the heavy packs "rip off packs." That said, I'm a pack-rat and always get heavy ones.

However, bear in mind that you will probably be able to sell your Zaishen coins and buy your pack from a player for a better deal. I'm not sure what heavy packs are trading for these days, but if you go for a large pack (15 slots), try to nab it for ~50k (totally doable) and sell your 50 silver coins for ~1.5k each. You'll end up ahead.

Best to get a large 1st, then upgrade later once your characters all have them, eventually you will have heavy on all.

Certainly buy from players if you can to save some cash.

With the price of gold z-coins, trading in for a heavy as opposed to buying a heavy pack is a bad idea. sell the z-coins and buy the heavy pack. I almost feel like there should be a suggestion that they change how much the packs cost not that z-coins are trade-able.

I personally wouldn't advise this unless you'll be buying the pack directly from other players.

Unless you're hurting for room, if you plan on having a heavy pack anyway, wait for the heavy pack.

Get what you think you will have a use for.

I have a lot of characters so initially bought the basic equipment pack for all of them 5 slots.
Then started getting z coins eventually I had 3 of the biggest packs 20 slots each.
At some point it just became clear that getting 20 extra slots on one character when I could get 15 slots on each of 3 characters was wasted effort

If they were pure storage maybe I would have gone for the biggest, but how many weapons and armour pieces do I need per character.

You also can use them for weapon DROPS. I have 5 heavy and 8 large packs, but i have to admit that i often dont need that space for drops (i salvage most drops).

Just use one slot for merch stones instead...if the worry is farming. But unless your constantly getting that many gold/purp drops between town/outpost visits you should just be mat salvaging on the majority of the useless drops no? I mean where would you farm that prevents you from getting to an oitpost to sell off that many gold/purps that a full inventory (minus whatever for books or some cons or what not that youd also need another 15 slots just for wrps (assuming 5 slots are used for weps you actually use)? I can understand the packrat logic (im one and i only have a large and most of the times just fine) but otherwise i dont really see the need for 20 slots like that. Yes...nice to have but not a need that makes the price difference justify it unless that difference doesnt mean diddly to you (at which point this wouldnt even be a question.

This is really 2 separate questions;

1) Is the heavy worth it over the large? - Yes, storage space is one of the most valuable commodities in this game imo.
2) Is the heavy worth 15 gold coins? - Probably not, since you can trade coins now.
